    Your Questions Answered

How Do Roof Insurance Claims Work?

    1. Contact River City Roofing

Reach out to us at River City to schedule a free roof inspection. We'll inspect your entire property for wind, hail and/or storm damage.

    2. File A Claim

After assessing any damage that is present on your roof, we will review our findings together and decide if an insurance claim is the best course of action. Then, we will enter into agreement to work for you, upon insurance approval, for the funding of your roof project. We can meet your insurance adjuster on site to make sure all your property’s damages are accounted for.

    3. Insurance Restoration Assistance

We will create a robust, itemized estimate in a program called Xactimate for fair market pricing. The majority of insurance carriers use this system to price their scope of loss. You may then compare, side-by-side, the insurance company's estimate to our estimate to view where every dollar is applied on your project. We will work with your insurance company to get a full scope of work approved and funded. Processing time can vary. We have emergency tarp services available if needed.

    4. Policy Types & Initial Payments

Typically, insurance will approve RCV (Replacement Cost Value) on a claim, but will pay out ACV (Actual Cash Value) up front, minus your deductible (your out-of pocket expense), and retain the Depreciated amount until work has been completed. An initial check (ACV) will be released to get work started. Your project manager can answer any policy-specific questions you might have during this process.

    5. Production & Installation

Once you have decided the details of your new roofing system and the first payment is received, your project will be moved into production to begin the installation process. We can work with your scheduling needs and will keep you informed as build day approaches. In situations where supplements for additional work are necessary outside of the original scope of work, we will send updated estimates and seek approval from your insurance company.

    6. Install Your Roof

Our roofing professionals arrive on site to install your new roofing system. Your project manager will be on site to ensure a seamless process.

    7. Final Walk-Through, Payment & Warranty

After your new roof is installed, a final inspection will be completed to ensure quality workmanship and your satisfaction. At this time, all necessary paperwork will be sent to your insurance carrier and/or mortgage company for the final release of funds. All insurance payments will be sent to you for remittance to River City. After we receive the final payment, your roof will be under warranty.
